Fawcett Publications expanded CAPTAIN MARVEL into THE MARVEL FAMILY, with the CAPTAIN, CAPTAIN
MARVEL JR and MARY MARVEL. An interesting side note is that Superman's people sued the
CAPTAIN's people (D C Comics sued Fawcett Publications) saying that the CAPTAIN infringed
on the Superman copyright. After years of litigation, the CAPTAIN was grounded in 1953. It
is not known what happened to Billy Batson, boy newscaster. Hmmm. I wonder if he changed
his name to Jimmy Olson and .... naaaaah, probably not.
I was very disappointed in the new Capt. Marvel movie. They changed EVERYTHING. Gender, backstory ad nauseum. It is a different story altogether. Why did they co-opt the Capt, Marvel name if it is a different character, story and everything? Very disappointed! The same goes for the movie SHAZAM!. They changed almost everything.
