RESULTS OF THE 3/28/97 PIZZA BUILDING/EASTER EGG COLORING CONTEST

We gathered for the festivities on Friday night. All of the suspects were not there. Susan (a previous winner) had to work. We had a plan. First the pizza then the eggs. Peg and I had a high tech edge ... we had recently acquired a pizza stone and were looking forward to using it.

The building began. Peg and I stuck with the traditional tomato based sauce, as did Mary and the boys. The Pam-Sean team went with the pesto. Michael and Joey helped Peg construct our pizza as I took pictures. David helped Mary and all of the pizzas looked great. Of course the pizza stone added a somewhat professional look to ours.

But pizza contests are not about looks, they're about taste. So into the oven they went. ................and out they came.

We ate and tasted and compared and bragged then started with the Easter Egg coloring portion of the activities. We never voted on the best pizza. I would have voted for ours. And OH! The pizza stone is the way to go. That thing worked great. The pizza didn't stick to it and it (the pizza) was easy to cut. I think we'll be practicing our pizza making skills again soon.

The egg coloring was, as always, very messy and colorful and lots of fun. I hope the pictures turn out.

Pizza contests are a lot of fun, you should try it sometime. I think next time we might try making several small pizzas instead of the full size ones. It would provide a little more variety.

If you have a pizza contest, I'd be interested in knowing how it turned out. I can be reached at tmurray@surewest.net
