Building your pizza is an exercise in creative construction. I wouldn't presume to tell you how to do that. Initially we leaned toward the classic construction style ... tomato based sauce, then some cheese(s), then pepperoni, salami or hamburger or canadian bacon or sausage (Italian for the spicy taste) and black olives etc. Later contests saw various pesto sauces introduced. There are many other ingredients (anchovies comes to mind) that could be used. Be creative.. Often several layers of the classics is necessary. In any case, when finished, bake them in the oven (or the BBQ) and then everyone tastes everyones pizza and you try for a concensus on whose is the best. (It's OK to vote for your own pizza.) But, though the years we have seldom reached a concensus as to which was the "best" pizza. We haven't had a bad one yet (but the ranch dressing ones came pretty close for some of us, some like it, some don't).
