Things That Work

This is a page for items that work.

We have all encountered items that have not lived up to our expectations.
These items have lived up to or exceeded MY expectations.

A work in progress. I will include pictures, manufacturer info and where you can get them as I go along.

This is an amazing screwlike device that you screw into a pineapple that you have cut the ends off of. You wind up with the pineapple meat in a long continuous coil. One slice down the coil and you have pineapple slices. The pineapple itself has the core and the sides intact. We like to take out the core and slice the shell into long pieces then "fillet" it, using the pineapple "steaks" for BBQing.
Knife Sharpener
This sharpener works very, very well. And as an extra bonus, you don't have to know anythng to use it. Just pull the knife through it's two angled ceramic rods and ... viola. AND, it sharpens both left and right handed scissors.
Vidalia Onion Chopper
WOW! What can I tell you. This chopper (as seen on TV) works great. It is sturdy (and it has to be to put pressure to chop stuff) and it works great and is easy to clean also. I highly recommend this to anybody that cooks, or knows someone that cooks.
This knife is awesome. It is the number one tomato slicer (and other skinned veggies also). I'm thinking it might be the large wavy serrations that do the trick. I remember my Mother having a set of these knives (Rada) as I was growing up. Don't remember the tomato knife though. And did I mention that it is very very sharp?
